We erect, dismantle, inspect, service and repair grain silos for flour mills, maize mills and agro-allied facilities in Nigeria, Ghana and across Africa.
Grain silos protect stock worth far more than the silo itself. A silo that is badly aligned, leaking or structurally weak puts that stock at risk, and a delayed installation holds up the whole facility.
Abba Grace handles the full life of a silo: assembling and erecting silo panels and roofs, installing ladders, platforms, conveyors and access systems, inspecting and repairing damaged sections, and dismantling silos that need to be moved or retired. We focus on proper alignment, structural stability and safe lifting throughout.
We assemble, position, install and dismantle grain silos and their associated components for agricultural and industrial facilities. Our crews handle silo panels, roofs, structural supports, ladders, platforms, conveyors and access systems, with close attention to alignment, structural stability and safe lifting.
We inspect, service and repair grain silos to restore structural integrity, reduce downtime and extend the service life of storage systems. This covers the silo body itself as well as supports, ladders, platforms, hatches and conveyors.
Leaks at panel joints, the roof or hatches let moisture reach stored grain. We seal leaks and repair damaged sections.
Damaged panels weaken the structure. We repair or replace them and reinforce where needed.
Unsafe access is a risk to your staff. We repair and maintain access systems.
We maintain the mechanical components connected to the silo.
We dismantle silos safely with minimal disruption to operations.
Safety is planned into every step. Read more about our health and safety standards.

We install and repair roofs on factories, warehouses and commercial buildings, fix leaks, service gutters and drainage lines, and waterproof roofs with felt, mineral felt and liquid bitumen.
A leaking factory or warehouse roof damages stock, equipment and the building itself, and every rainy season makes it worse. Industrial roofs are large, high and often above running operations, so repairs need planning and proper fall protection.
Abba Grace installs and replaces roofing sheets, structural components and flashing, repairs leaking or deteriorated roofs, installs and maintains gutters and drainage lines, and applies felt, mineral felt and liquid bitumen waterproofing. Our crews work at height with full-body harnesses and planned safe work procedures.

Roofing felt and mineral felt are sheet materials laid, overlapped and sealed across a roof surface, which suits larger areas such as flat roofs. Liquid bitumen is applied as a coating, which makes it useful around joints, upstands, gutters and penetrations like ducts and pipes. We'll recommend the right option after seeing the roof. Our guide to industrial roof leaks explains the options in more detail.
Often, yes. Many leaks come from specific damaged sheets, flashing, joints or gutters that can be repaired or replaced on their own. We inspect the roof first to find the cause.

We erect and dismantle scaffolding for construction, maintenance and industrial projects, and prepare, prime and paint industrial facilities, buildings, equipment and structures.
Safe access comes first on any job at height. Scaffolding that is unstable, overloaded or poorly inspected puts every worker on it at risk, and a paint job is only as durable as the surface preparation beneath it.
Abba Grace erects and dismantles scaffolding on buildings, silos and plant for construction, maintenance, painting, fabrication and industrial projects, with attention to stability, access, load requirements, inspection and fall protection. Our painting service covers surface preparation, priming, painting, coating and finishing for industrial facilities, buildings, equipment and structures.

We fabricate and weld industrial structures and components, fold and bend steel plate to shape, overhaul and paint steel structures, and install and repair filter tank exhaust lines.
Industrial plants depend on steel: platforms, frames, supports, conveyors, elevator trunks, gutters, pipework and the structures that hold everything up. When that steel is damaged, corroded or needs to be made from scratch, you need fabricators and welders who can work accurately, often at height and on live sites.
Abba Grace fabricates and welds structures, supports, frames, tanks, pipework and other metal components; folds and bends steel plate into elevator trunks, conveyors and covers, and roof drainage gutters; overhauls steel structures with repair, reinforcement and protective coating; and installs and repairs the outdoor exhaust lines connected to filter tanks.
We fabricate and weld industrial structures, equipment, pipework, supports, frames, tanks and other metal components, with a focus on accuracy, durability and safe execution.
We fold and bend steel plate to the shape your plant needs, from elevator trunks to conveyor covers and roof drainage gutters.

Seven questions to ask before you hire a contractor to work on your mill, silos, roofs or steel structures.
Work on a running mill, a grain silo or a factory roof affects production, stock and people's safety. Choosing a contractor on price alone can lead to delays, rework and incidents that cost far more than the original job. These questions will help you compare contractors properly.
Industrial work is specialised. Ask what similar jobs they have completed, for which kinds of facilities, and ask to see photos of their work. A contractor who installs silos regularly will plan the job very differently from one who doesn't.
Ask how they assess risks before starting, what protective equipment their crews use, and how they handle work at height, hot work and heavy lifting. A good contractor will answer clearly and won't treat safety as an afterthought.
Ask whether the job will be done by their own skilled crew, and who supervises on site. You want competent people for each task, such as welders, fitters and scaffolders, not general labour learning on your plant.
A good contractor asks questions before quoting: about your equipment, your timeline and how the work fits around production. If a quote arrives without anyone understanding your site, be cautious.
Make sure the quote says exactly what is included and what isn't, such as materials, scaffolding, parts, painting and waste removal. Clear scope prevents arguments and surprise extra costs later.
Industrial jobs often overlap. A silo repair may need scaffolding, welding and painting; a roof repair may need gutter work. A contractor who covers related services can save you coordinating several companies.
Agree the specification and timeline up front, and ask how they will keep you updated during the job.

How felt, mineral felt and liquid bitumen work, where each one performs best, and why many roofs use both.
If your flat roof, roof deck or gutters are letting water in, the two waterproofing options you'll hear about most are roofing felt and liquid bitumen. Both are bitumen-based and both keep water out, but they are applied differently and suit different parts of a roof.
Roofing felt is a waterproof sheet material supplied in rolls. It is laid across a prepared roof surface, overlapped at the edges and sealed, often by torching, so the sheets bond into one continuous waterproof layer.
Mineral felt is roofing felt with a mineral-granule top surface. The granules give the top layer extra protection from weather and sunlight and a harder-wearing finish.
Liquid bitumen is a waterproof coating applied as a liquid, by brush or roller. Because it flows into shape before it sets, it seals awkward details that sheets struggle with: joints, upstands, gutter linings and the areas around ducts, pipes and other roof penetrations.
| Roofing felt / mineral felt | Liquid bitumen | |
|---|---|---|
| Form | Sheets in rolls | Liquid coating |
| How it's applied | Laid, overlapped and sealed, often torch-applied | Brushed or rolled on |
| Best for | Flat roofs and large open roof areas | Joints, upstands, gutters, ducts and pipes |
| Main strength | Continuous, even layer over a big area | Seals irregular shapes and small details |
| Surface preparation | Essential | Essential |
On a typical industrial flat roof, felt or mineral felt covers the main surface, while liquid bitumen seals the details around ducts, pipes, upstands and gutters, where sheets are hardest to fit. Using each material where it works best gives a more reliable result than forcing one material to do everything.
Whichever material you choose, the surface underneath must be clean, dry and sound. Waterproofing applied over dirt, loose material or standing water won't bond properly, and the leak will return.
Abba Grace applies felt, mineral felt and liquid bitumen, and repairs the roofs and gutters underneath them. See our industrial roofing and waterproofing service, read our guide to the causes of industrial roof leaks, or request a quote.

What to plan for when you install a new mill or move an existing one, from site preparation to safe lifting and handover.
Before any machine is lifted, agree exactly what is being installed or moved: which machines, platforms, elevators, conveyors, filter tanks and pipework are included, and what the finished layout should look like. A clear scope avoids surprises once work starts.
A mill that is being moved should be dismantled in a planned order, so that machines, platforms and components can be transported and reassembled without damage or confusion. Recording and labelling parts as they come apart makes reinstallation faster.
Mill machines, bucket elevators and steel platforms are heavy and awkward. Every lift should be planned, with suitable equipment and competent personnel. Heavy lifting is one of the highest-risk parts of the job, so it should never be rushed.
The platforms and structures that carry the machines go up first, followed by the machines themselves, elevators, conveyors, pipework and filter tanks. Careful alignment at this stage matters for how smoothly the mill runs later.
Once everything is installed, the plant is checked and supported through commissioning so that the line is ready for production. Plan for routine servicing from the start; it is easier than dealing with breakdowns later.
The cost of a mill installation or relocation depends on the plant's size and capacity, the number of machines, whether structures and platforms are included, lifting and transport needs, the distance between sites, and the timeline. Ask for a quote based on your actual scope.

A practical guide for mill and storage managers: what to look for, what to check routinely, and when to bring in a professional.
A grain silo is there to keep stored grain dry, secure and easy to handle. When a silo is damaged, the cost isn't only the repair. Moisture and contamination can spoil stored grain, and a structural problem can force you to empty the silo at the worst possible time. Catching problems early usually means a smaller, faster repair.
Water stains, damp grain near the walls or floor, or rust streaks running down from joints all suggest leaks. Common entry points are panel joints, the roof, hatches and the base of the silo.
Panels can be damaged by impacts, uneven loading or long-term stress. Any visible deformation should be inspected, because it can weaken the structure as a whole.
Surface rust can spread and thin the steel over time, particularly around bolts, joints and areas where water collects.
Bolts and seals hold panels together and keep the silo weathertight. Loose bolts or cracked sealant are an early warning that leaks or movement may follow.
The roof takes the most weather. Damaged roof panels, hatches that don't close properly and blocked or broken vents all put stored grain at risk.
Corroded ladders, loose handrails and damaged platforms are a safety risk for anyone who has to climb or inspect the silo.
Repeated problems with conveyors or other connected components can point to misalignment or wear that needs proper attention, not just quick fixes.
Only climb or enter a silo if your team is trained and equipped for work at height and confined spaces. If in doubt, leave the inspection to professionals.
Call in a specialist if you see structural damage, leaks you can't trace, significant corrosion, or unsafe access systems, or if you're planning to move or remove a silo. A proper inspection tells you what can be repaired and what needs replacing.
Abba Grace inspects, services and repairs grain silos: repairing damaged panels, replacing worn components, reinforcing structures, sealing leaks and maintaining hatches, ladders, platforms and conveyors. Learn more about our grain silo installation and repair service, or request a quote.

A practical before-and-after checklist to keep water out of stored grain when the rains arrive.
Moisture is one of the biggest threats to stored grain, and the rainy season is when hidden weak points in a silo show up. A few hours of inspection before the rains start can save a silo full of stock.
Do a second walk-round after the first big storm of the season. Look for fresh water stains, damp grain near walls or the base, standing water around foundations and any wind damage to roof panels or hatches. Problems are much easier to trace while the signs are fresh.
Roof and wall inspections involve work at height, and entering a silo is confined-space work. Only trained and properly equipped staff should do these checks. If you're unsure, leave them to professionals.
Leaks, damaged panels and corrosion are much cheaper to fix before stored grain is affected. Read the seven signs your silo needs repair, see our grain silo installation and repair service, or request a quote.

Why factory and warehouse roofs leak, how the main repair options compare, and how to choose the right one.
Most leaks on factory and warehouse roofs come from a handful of causes. Finding the real source matters, because water often travels along the roof before it drips inside.
Over time, sheets rust, crack or get damaged by foot traffic and impacts. Holes and thin spots let water straight through.
Flashing seals the edges and junctions of a roof. When it lifts, corrodes or loses its seal, water gets in at the joins.
When gutters and downpipes are blocked, misaligned or leaking, water backs up and overflows into the building or runs down walls.
Every duct, exhaust pipe or vent that passes through a roof is a potential weak point if the seal around it fails.
Flat roofs and roof decks hold water longer, so cracked or aged waterproofing quickly turns into leaks.
| Option | What it is | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| Sheet and flashing replacement | Removing damaged roofing sheets, structural components or flashing and fitting new ones. | Rusted, holed or broken sheets and failed flashing. |
| Felt and mineral felt | Waterproof sheet material laid, overlapped and sealed across a prepared surface. | Flat roofs and larger roof areas that need a continuous waterproof layer. |
| Liquid bitumen | A waterproof coating applied as a liquid. | Joints, upstands, gutters and the areas around ducts and pipes. |
| Gutter and drainage repair | Cleaning, unblocking, realigning, sealing or replacing gutters, downpipes and drainage lines. | Overflowing or leaking gutters and poor rainwater drainage. |
Many roofs need a combination: for example, replacing a few damaged sheets, sealing around ducts with liquid bitumen and clearing the gutters.
The price of an industrial roof repair depends on the size of the roof, the type and extent of the damage, the materials used, access and scaffolding needs, whether the building stays in operation during the work, and the location. A site inspection is the best way to get an accurate quote.
Abba Grace installs and repairs industrial roofs, services gutters and drainage lines and applies felt, mineral felt and liquid bitumen waterproofing. See our industrial roofing and waterproofing service, or request a quote.

What to check before anyone steps onto a scaffold on a building, silo or plant site.
Scaffolding gives crews safe access to buildings, silos and plant, but only when it is erected, inspected and used properly. A collapsed scaffold or a fall from an unprotected edge can cause serious injuries. This checklist covers the basics to confirm before work starts.
Scaffolding should be put up, altered and taken down only by people with the right training and experience. Ask who erected it and who is responsible for it.
The scaffold should be inspected after it is erected and before it is first used, and again after any alteration, damage or severe weather.
Silos and industrial plant add extra challenges: curved surfaces, heights, nearby machinery and work that has to continue around production. Plan the scaffold with the job in mind, so welders, fabricators or painters have safe access to everything they need to reach.
Abba Grace erects and dismantles scaffolding for construction, maintenance, painting, fabrication and industrial projects on buildings, silos and plant, with attention to stability, access, load requirements, inspection and fall protection. How to spot corrosion on industrial steelwork early, and what an overhaul involves when it's needed.
Industrial plants rely on steel platforms, frames, galleries, supports and roof structures. Corrosion slowly eats away at that steel, and because it often starts in places nobody looks, it can go unnoticed until a structure is weakened.
Steel corrodes fastest where water collects and stays: flat ledges, joints, column bases and blocked gutters. Leaking roofs and gutters above a structure make this much worse.
Paint protects steel only while it is intact. Once a coating chips, cracks or wears through, the steel underneath starts to corrode.
Humid air, coastal locations and industrial processes all speed up corrosion, which is why steel in some plants needs more frequent inspection than others.
As steel loses thickness, it loses strength. Corroded platforms, handrails and galleries become a safety risk for the people who use them, and corroded structural members can affect the whole structure. Repairing early is usually far less disruptive than replacing large sections later.
Assessing the condition of steel members and connections.
Repairing, replacing or reinforcing weakened members, with fabrication and welding as needed.
Removing rust and failed coatings so new protection can bond.
Priming and painting to protect the steel going forward.
